
An experienced educational administrator and former superintendent, Matthew Wendt earned a bachelor’s in English from Pittsburg State University and a master’s in educational administration from Kansas State University before going on to receive his doctor of education in educational leadership and administration from the University of Arkansas. Matthew Wendt also holds superintendent certifications from Fort Hays State University and the American Association of School Administrators.
For nearly three decades, Dr. Wendt served as a teacher and administrator in schools throughout the midwestern United States. Among other accomplishments during this time, he stands out as the youngest superintendent in the history of Kansas education, a distinction he achieved while leading Fowler Unified School District from 1999 to 2000. He also has experience leading large school districts in roles such as head of the 18,000-student Oswego School District in Illinois and the 10,000-student public school district in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Dr. Wendt draws upon this background in his current role as a foreign principal, educator, and consultant for two international schools in Shenzhen and Beijing, China. He offers coaching, mentoring, and instruction to faculty and administrators while heading up recruitment efforts. Among other achievements, he has led the creation of exchange programs with American counterparts, spearheaded the establishment of a new primary school, and helped design plans for a future secondary school.
